What kind of air compressor do I need to run this?

The Air/Hydraulic pump converts (multiplies) input air pressure at volume to hydraulic pressure. We recommend a compressor with a minimum air output of 5 CFM (cubic feet per minute) at an operating pressure of 100-120 psi. Many smaller compressor units may produce 4-5 CFM but at only 35-40 psi.  This will not enough pressure at volume operate pump at a practical production level. In fact, with an under-capacity air compressor, the hand pump option is actually faster. Compressor buyers need to check CFM at operating PSI to determine if the compressor meets the minimum requirements. If a customer is anticipating very rapid press cylinder cycle times then more CFM (10-12) at a higher pressure (130-150) will be necessary.

Why choose a foot pump?

Foot pumps allow for moderate-level modulation and feedback in the pressing process, without the physical requirements of a hand pump.
