Perlite #4

Chunky Perlite #4 is ideal for plants that need a faster draining medium. It can be used by itself when growing hydroponically, or added to soil or other mediums to create the ideal mix for tropical plants such as monstera, alocasia and philodendron species. 

Chunky Perlite is a naturally occurring siliceous rock that when heated to 1600° F expands up to 20 times its original volume. This kilning process is very similar to popping popcorn and produces a growing media that is sterile and has a neutral pH of 7.0. 

The exceptional physical properties of this perlite make it the best there is for adding porosity to soil and soilless mixes. This perlite has numerous hydroponic applications as well. One of our favorite mixes is a 50/50 or 70/30 mix of Coco Coir/Perlite.

Chunky Perlite #4 is the largest perlite on the market and averages a whopping size of up to 1 inch in diameter. Our #3 Perlite measures around 1/2 inch and our Coarse is approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch.

NOTE: 
Although our Chunky #4 Perlite is super-clean with an extremely low dust content, some dust may form during transportation to you. If it does it will be very minimal, and it can be removed simply by rinsing in a colander, or by blowing the dust off with a fan outside.

SIZING:
1 quart = 4 cups (fills ten 2” or two-to-three 4” pots)
½ gallon = 8 cups (fills nineteen 2” or approx. five 4” pots)
1 gallon = 16 cups (fills thirty-eight 2” or ten 4” pots)
2 gallon = 32 cups (fills seventy-seven 2” or nineteen 4” pots)
3 gallon = 48 cups (fills fourteen-to-fifteen 6” or five 8” pots)
1 cubic foot = 120 cups (fills a lot of pots!)
