Sundstrom SR 345 Protective Hood

The Sundstrom SR 345 is intended for use together with Sundström half masks and full face masks with filters or with the SR 307 compressed air attachment, or together with the SR 90 Airline.

Many growers simply wear a respirator and maybe a pair of gloves when they spray their rooms, but the mask only protects your lungs. You must remember that many of the pesticides we use are systemic and can easily enter the body through skin contact. Here's a perfect example. Many growers have used flea and tick products on their pets that are applied directly to the animal's body, usually behind the neck. When a pest bites into the animal and and draws fluid, the pest dies shortly thereafter because the pesticide has systemically entered all the tissue and bodily fluid within. You may be surprised to find out that the active ingredient, Imidacloprid, is the same active ingredient in products commonly used in our industry such as Bayer Tree & Shrub, Promis, etc. I don't know about you but I definitely don't want that stuff on my skin.

The protective hoods are designed for use together with Sundström half masks and full face masks with filters or SR 307 compressed air attachment, and with the SR 90 Airline. The hood is made of chemicals-resistant materials and provides protection against splashing and dripping of most solvents and acids in relatively low concentrations. However, the material may be affected by extended contact with certain solvents in liquid form. The hood is extra roomy, so that both a safety helmet and ear protectors can be worn under the hood, if necessary. The SR 345 hood extends over the user’s shoulders, back and chest. The visor is treated to prevent misting. The hood can be machine-washed about 10 times – without spin-drying – at a maximum of +40 °C.
