CHUNKY Vermiculite - 1 cu ft

Vermiculite can be used as a top dressing in seed germination. It provides added water retention by itself or when added to other growing mediums. It can be mixed with soil to improve structure. It’s also frequently used as a hydroponic growing medium, and as a casing layer for growing mushrooms.

Vermiculite is a mineral that is found along the eastern Appalachian range in the US; it is also mined in other places across the globe. Vermiculite has the unique characteristic of expanding to many times its original volume when heated, a process called exfoliation. This process of expansion allows vermiculite to hold optimal amounts of both oxygen and water, helping plants thrive even during periods of dryness.
